Little Friends
m-w-f | 9:10am-11:50am | ages 2.5-4 yrs
Teachers Carly and Lindsay
This class is for 2.5-4 year olds. We offer a morning play-based session with a focus on social-emotional learning and creating a positive first school experience. A major emphasis throughout the year is encouraging students to develop their curiosity as they meet the challenges of a creative learning environment. Family helpers join our class regularly. This is an opportunity to develop relationships with your child’s friends and teachers.
Lindsay and Carly work to ensure that each child is the main character in their own preschool life. They provide support while creating a developmentally-appropriate and engaging experience.
1. Social Development: Understanding and Expressing Emotions
Through interactions with peers, children learn to understand and appropriately express their own emotions. We introduce and gently guide them in recognizing and expressing their own emotions.
2. Language Development: Learning New Words in Daily Life
Through storytelling, conversations, and activities, children expand their vocabulary and use new words in context. We also emphasize building strong relationships with teachers to support language acquisition and feeling comfortable at preschool.
3. Cognitive Development: Understanding Cause and Effect
Our toys, classroom layout and scenery change with our themed units. By using various play materials, children explore cause-and-effect relationships and solve simple problems. We encourage confidence through successful experiences and support the development of critical thinking skills.
4. Physical Development: Enhancing Physical Abilities
Activities such as running, jumping, and climbing help develop gross motor skills, while arts and crafts, building blocks, and puzzles improve fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination.
5. Fostering Creativity: Valuing Imagination and Expression
We promote creativity through imaginative play and role-playing activities. Children learn about social roles and situations, enhancing their understanding and self-expression.
In the Little Friends class, we help students learn to participate with interest and focus during group activities so that they are ready to engage as active learners in our KP class and beyond. We are laying the groundwork for a lifelong love of learning.

All families take turns helping in their classrooms. Our program depends family help. Everyone signs up for their helping days or may be assigned days. If for some reason you cannot attend class that day, please accept responsibility for contacting other parents in your child's class to arrange for a substitute.
Not only does your presence in the class help facilitate the work we are doing, your presence also greatly helps you to know us and us to know you!
Most families find the helping days to be fun and informative, since they are great opportunities to observe your child, talk with your teachers and get to better know your child's friends. Please note that while we love getting to know your child's siblings, we ask that you please make other childcare arrangements for siblings not enrolled in the class for your helping days.
