“Each of us possess special gifts and strengths that when shared, can be used to enhance the lives of others.”

Sue remembers Mrs. Zuber's 1st grade class because Mrs. Zuber made learning fun and was an encouraging teacher. Sue has certainly taken Mrs. Zuber's influence to heart!

During Sue's decade of teaching at KPS, she has developed a thoughtful creative movement curricula that stimulates children's imaginations while exploring new ways to move and use their bodies. Every year, Sue enjoys exploring and observing low-tides on the annual school-wide trip to Salt Water State Park, where she helps families carefully search and watch for wildlife. In the classroom, we deeply value Sue’s conscientious approach to communication. She brings insightful, nuanced observations and awareness for others that is very effective with staff and families.

Sue first joined Kirkland Preschool as a parent. She says, "I always enjoyed volunteering in the classroom and appreciated all of the time and thought put into the engaging and fun activities." Before her time at Kirkland Preschool, Sue was Lead Teacher and Team Leader at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center for 12 years and worked in Lake Washington School District as a Classified Instructional Assistant.

When she’s not teaching, Sue enjoys waking up early and walking her dog, Boomer, in the quiet before anyone else is up. She also enjoys gardening and cooking. When asked what she is most proud of, her response was, “Being a mom and seeing the great young man my son is becoming.”
