KP Class

t-w-th-f | 9am-12pm | ages 4-5 yrs

Teachers Sue, Allie and KK

This class is for 4- and 5-year olds, some of whom will be attending kindergarten the following September. We also welcome slightly younger students who are ready for exciting challenges and more independence. We offer a 3-hour play-based morning session with a focus on social-emotional learning. Family helpers join our class regularly. This is an opportunity to develop relationships with your child’s friends and teachers.

Sue, Allie and KK help children learn and grow through play with a focus on the following:

  1. Fostering Collaboration and Independence through Play
Through play, children develop both cooperative skills and self-reliance. Children learn to work together while also cultivating the ability to make independent decisions and manage themselves effectively.

  2. Enhancing Communication Skills, Self-Discovery, and Understanding Others
We help children express their own feelings and thoughts clearly while understanding those of others. Through various activities, we foster their communication skills and emotional intelligence. Group play helps children grow emotionally and socially, fostering cooperation and empathy.

  3. Providing Experiential Activities that Lay the Foundation for Future Learning
We engage children in a variety of activities to spark their curiosity and interests, laying the groundwork for future learning. By exploring nature and our community, they build essential knowledge and experiences.

At our preschool, we respect each child’s individuality and strive to provide a fun and fulfilling experience. We are dedicated to offering a rich learning environment and supporting each child's journey towards a bright future.

  • All families take turns helping in their classrooms. Our program depends on 1 family helper each day. Everyone signs up for their helping days or may be assigned days. If for some reason you cannot attend class that day, please accept responsibility for contacting other parents in your child's class to arrange for a substitute.

Our curriculum depends on your participation and interaction with the children on your scheduled day. Based on a full class, each child's family should count on 8-9 helping days during the year. (Note: Twin families still need to help per child.) If a family does not meet its obligation, we may have to suggest a different school. Most families find the helping days to be fun and informative, since they are great opportunities to observe your child, talk with your teachers and get to better know your child's friends.

Please note that while we love getting to know your child's siblings, we ask that you please make other childcare arrangements for siblings not enrolled in the class for your helping days.
